Ancoats Run Club
Ancoats Run Club began life in the midst of the pandemic lockdowns when a group of Royal Mills residents began meeting for socially-distanced runs around the city.
It was a way to combat the isolation of that time, and even though lockdown is long past, the club still puts friendship and community at the heart of its goals.
They often head out for coffee at Off The Press after a run, or meet up for beers in the evenings. It describes itself as a “social club that runs” but don’t underestimate their sporting achievements. Club runners include competitive athletes and you’ll often see the club represented in marathons, races and ParkRuns, usually with fellow members cheering them on along the route.
If you want to get involved in Ancoats Run Club, go along to any Tuesday evening run at 6.30pm, or any Friday morning run at 7.15am. They meet outside the Waterside Coffee shop, next to the canal on Red Hill Street, Ancoats. Once you’ve done your first run, they’ll invite you into the WhatsApp group where you can see all the runs and socials happening each week.
