An authentic Neopolitan style pizzeria, Double Zero has been lauded as one of the best in the UK. The menu is confident simplicity with the pizza taking centre stage, obviously. There’s also a tempting bunch of ‘before pizza’ nibbles, like those chunky, green nocellara olives or some interestingly topped crostini if you want something more substantial.
It’s the pizza you’re here for though, that black-speckled, bubble crusted beauty that you have come to know and love, made on site with a blast (90 seconds max) in their Dantean blue and white tiled furnace. Apart from the obvious, toppings include Italian ham and pineapple, placed brazenly at the top of the list to goad the naysayers, perhaps, alongside Italian specialities like melting Nduja (spicy salami), friarielli, a sort of skinny, spinachy-broccoli for fans of iron-rich green oomph, and scamorza, a smokey Italian cheese, like a stringier mozzarella. With bases made of the four classic ingredients, vegan cheese an option, and a kids pizza and juice meal deal, everyone is catered for.
The interior is modern and chic with sulphur-yellow leather seating, white tiles and wooden everything else. Sitting outside on a sunny day is sure to leave you feeling all is well with the world. Having been going strong for more than four years now, they are at the top of their game, and always busy, booking is advised.
