Purezza

Vegan

Sitting in the old Dough Kitchen spot in the Northern Quarter, Purezza is yet another pizza restaurant for Manchester – but one with the distinction of offering solely vegan pizza and a menu that’s 96% gluten-free.

Purezza started out in Brighton before opening up in Bristol, Camden, and now here. They’ve won various awards for their vegan pizzas along the way including “best vegan restaurant of 2020’.

Purezza pizzas are made on sour dough with a choice of wholegrain, hemp, or freedom (gluten-free) bases. All the toppings are vegan (and they’re all coeliac-friendly except for seitan). They spent years creating a vegan mozzarella that melts and tastes like the real thing – a noble use of time if ever we saw one. They also do a tempting line in vegan desserts including a chocolate pizza covered in homemade hazelnut chocolate spread and topped with white chocolate crumble and a scoop of ice cream.

Children under ten get a free mini pizza, and they have a full kids menu too. As you’d expect, it’s all ethically run with an emphasis on local sourcing and refurbished materials. Purezza is winning all the (vegan) brownie points at the moment.
