Roxy Ball Room Rainford Square
GlobalRoxy Ball Room is the home of booze and ball games, but there are pizzas and other street food faves to boost those all-important energy levels for the next tournament, be that ping pong, beer pong, shuffleboard or some ten-pin bowling magic.
For a tasty slice of the action on the food front, think pizza: you can go for the full monty or grab a single slice for as little as £3. Choices are plentiful for a place where eating is something of an afterthought, with four meaty – pepperoni, meatball, chicken and chorizo, and meat feast, with BBQ pork and bacon alongside pepperoni, meatballs and chorizo– and two veggie: a classic margherita of tomato base, mozzarella and fresh basil and an option of BBQ pulled jackfruit, sun-blushed tomatoes and spring onions. Vegetarian nibbles include cheesy doughballs and mac’n’cheese bites; non-vegetarian sides include mini chorizo sausages with a chipotle mayo on the side for dipping purposes as well as crispy chicken fillets with a maple and Bourbon sauce – a grown-up fried chicken in a basket, if you will. Chuck in some chips or skin-on fries, and you’re refuelled and ready to take on the next challenge. Don’t forget to keep hydrated – there’s a range of soft drinks and mocktails, plus beers, fizz and classic cocktails. There’s also a selection of on-message concoctions sticking with the theme, from the Shuffle Hustle of Captain Morgan, Chambord, lime juice, cranberry, sugar syrup and fresh raspberries to the Baby Got Back Spin of Absolut Vodka, pineapple juice, mango puree, lime juice and agave. There’s even a Roxy Spritz, which we imagine scores quite high in Scrabble (Amaretto, Prosecco, lemon and grenadine, since you’re asking).
And if you fancy letting that competitive spirit run wild, the Rainford Square games hall has a mini golf course, perfect for working on increasing your handicap.
