Six Trees Kitchen & Bar
Pop in on your way back from the Trafford Centre – there’s plenty to watch go by, and plenty of space to watch it from, all while tucking in to some wood-fired pizza and other Italian-inspired scran and a proper pint of IPA, named after the founder of the pump manufacturer next door.
Pizzas toppings sit on a sourdough base that’s then cooked in the homemade oven – just one of the things built from scratch by Sam Oliver, managing director of GVE Pumps, and his team, who also devised the elaborate beer taps, the decking and even a fancy water feature. Pizzas include a ‘nduja version, also found in one of the croquette options, while flatbreads include fennel-infused meatballs with rich tomato sauce, which you can also choose as a small plates option. Halloumi is griddled and teamed with roasted red pepper hummus and pico de gallo salsa then served in a wrap, or fried in buttermilk and given the smashed avocado treatment and nestled in a brioche bun with sweet pepper jam. Other mains include a flat iron steak sandwich and a classic Caesar salad, with or without chicken and bacon, while the Six Trees cheeseburger has two patties and all the trimmings. Breakfast is big, and includes full English plus sourdough from artisan bakery The Bread Factory, topped with the likes of smashed avocado, poached free range eggs and drop of chilli oil, or sautéed mushrooms, poached eggs and a drop of parsley oil.
Add in vegan brownie and ice cream sweet treats, a fully stocked bar and a range of cocktails, covers to keep off any drizzle, twinkly lights in the namesake trees, and live music and DJs, and Six Trees Kitchen & Bar is made for a post-shop pitstop. It’s next to the tram, too.
