The Jane Eyre
The Jane Eyre is a self-styled ‘neighbourhood bar’ offering seasonal food, classic cocktails and local beers. Presided over by Eyre siblings Jonny and Joe, it is, mildly disappointingly, not a Gothic homage to the Yorkshire based tragic-heroine but actually named after their late mum.
The kitchen serves up a range of interesting small plates such as salt cod and chorizo scotch egg, Vacio steak with chimichurri, and roast cauliflower with romesco sauce. They also do a mean Sunday lunch menu and a range of bar snacks such as manchego croquettes and padron peppers.
Beers are local and craft, obviously. Cocktails are mostly elegant classics but if you like they offer some quirky additions like a glug of their homemade apple pie bourbon in an Old Fashioned, or kumquat gin with your tonic.
This is a stylish and sophisticated foil to the more industrial offerings in the area but panic not, the staff can still be relied on to don mustard coloured beanies and have tattooed fingers, phew!
