The River Restaurant
The River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel is one of Manchester’s classic fine-dining restaurants. Huge names that have run the kitchen include Marco Pierre White, while diners have included Jose Mourinho and Kylie.
In 2026, following several changes at the top, the hotel’s former banqueting head chef Peter Buckley is at the helm. He’s keeping the focus on Modern British cuisine with dishes such as beef fat brioche with braised ox cheek as a starter, and pan fried North Atlantic halibut with rosemary potato, grilot onion, artichoke, capers, hazelnut and Banyuls butter sauce as a main. The cocktail list is as refined as you’d expect from Manchester’s only five-star hotel.
