A stalwart of the Didsbury brunch scene, Thyme Out has been going strong since 2006. Locals rave about the brunch menu which, despite fierce competition from the wealth of other independent cafes in the area, manages to stand out. Highlights include the purple haze, a symphony of gin and beetroot cured salmon, more magenta than purple, atop a pillow of creme fraiche scrambled eggs on chewy sourdough, ducks eggs florentine, and the Full Didsbury. There are some decent vegan options too, they do both smashed avocado AND smashed aubergine.
Top quality, freshly made food is the focus here, with locally sourced ingredients and creativity aplenty. So it doesn’t come as a big surprise that they also offer an outside catering service, Thyme Outside, servicing weddings, conferences and private events. Despite closing in mid-afternoon, they are a licensed premises, with a dangerous range of breakfast cocktails on offer along with beers, wines and spirits. For the more restrained among us, there is great coffee from Heart & Graft, and a wodge of cake if you can find room for it.
