Buile Hill Park
L.S. Lowry used to be a regular visitor to Buile Hill Park, and Frances Hodgson Burnett is thought to have written The Secret Garden here. So it’s no wonder it’s included on English Heritage’s Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.
Buile Hill Mansion, which had been closed-up and neglected since 2000, reopened in March 2026 as Salford’s Register Office. A new cafe opened at the same time.
Other reasons to visit include tennis courts, outdoor gym equipment, a play area, a sensory garden and a tree trail – and the fact that it’s Salford’s biggest park. It’s known for hosting an annual free firework display, plus fun fairs and concerts.
