Mayfield Park
It’s no secret that Manchester city centre is short on decent parks. The opening of Mayfield Park in September 2022 goes some way to fixing that with its 6.5 acres of lawns, playgrounds, pathways, and live events area.
With 142 trees and 120,000 shrubs and plants, it’s a much needed oasis of greenery in this part of the city, with plenty of space on the grass for sunbathing and immersing yourself in nature.
Kids will love the six slides including one that traverses the River Medlock that flows through the park. It’s part of an adventure playground that features sunken trampolines, a climbing wall, balance beams and a roundabout.
Crucially for families, there are public toilets too. And though there’s no dedicated cafe, it’s just next door to Escape to Freight Island with all the food and drink options it offers.
Mayfield Park is open from dawn till dusk daily (exact timings are on the gates you go in). The main entrance, and the one closest to Piccadilly Station, is on Baring Street.
