Oxygen
Oxygen is the 13th UK park from the runaway active play juggernaut. Inside it’s brightly-coloured with trampolines and crawl-throughs almost as soon as you get through the door. Everything is aimed at pleasing youngsters from the sensory play to the toilet humour in the bathrooms.
The main park is divided into different zones but the main attraction is the trampolines with loads of individual spots for bouncing.
There’s also a giant airbag for jumping on to and an inflata vibes section which is a bit like the sort of large-scale inflatable bouncy castle and slide set-up you get at funfairs only without the threat of rain.
There’s also a strike arena where you can run around hitting coloured lights although this seems more successful in theory than practice – it’s a complete free-for-all so you can’t take the scores too seriously.
The staff are very good and encourage games like hide and seek in the strike arena or bouncy races which is good for involving kids who are on their own. Toddlers have their own less raucous bounce arena.
As well as the main event, you can also add on the high ropes activity to your ticket. It’s not as daring as outdoor versions but it’s a good introduction to these climbing courses. It suits younger children or allows tweens to manage independently. (Please note, there is a minimum height restriction of 120cm).
There’s also a sky rider which is a brief adrenaline-fuelled circuit. It takes about as long to be strapped into the harness as the ride itself but it certainly gives boasting rights and is popular with the older kids – you have to be 135cm tall for this one.
It’s no surprise that a place like this has a range of birthday party packages. If you’re thinking it all sounds a bit loud and lively, look out for their peaceful play autism and SEN-friendly sessions on Wednesday and Sunday evenings.
