Windermere Lake Cruises
Not everyone is up for bounding up mountains in search of the perfect view. If you prefer a more relaxing way to see the iconic landscape of the Lake District, Windermere Lake Cruises is just the ticket.
Its various cruises span the length and breadth of Windermere, England’s largest lake, with tours lasting from 45 minutes to three hours.
Climb aboard at the north end of the lake at Ambleside Waterhead pier, midway down at Bowness Pier, or at the southern tip at Lakeside Pier. All the piers have parking nearby and are accessible by public transport.
Once onboard there’s a cafe-bar and indoor and outdoor seating. Check their website for details of accessibility for wheelchairs.
You can combine your cruise with a visit to the Lakeland Motor Museum, Lakes Aquarium, or Windermere Jetty Museum. Or hop off at one of the stops, do your own thing for a while, and catch a later boat back.
