Unit 9 Cloudwater Taproom

Unit 9 Cloudwater Taproom is right next to the brewery which, incidentally, takes up units seven and eight.

Despite the unprepossessing location, the Cloudwater taproom is industrial in a good way. Think large, light and spacious but with blonde wood, greenery and pretty artwork on the walls. Trading estate chic never looked so good.

The clean appearance is a reflection of the beer, which is immaculate. The whole place is designed to show off Cloudwater’s artisan brewing to its very best with all the technological twiddly bits that entails.

It doesn’t just have 20 draft lines. It has 20 draft lines drawn from a 3ºc cold store situated via air-cooled, insulated ducting for a perfect pint.

If pints aren’t your thing, you can also find wine, small-batch softs and local gin from indie producers. Food is just cold snacks during the week but Unit 9 hosts a range of street food traders on Fridays and Saturdays.

It’s kid-friendly and dog-friendly but not so friendly as to allow stag dos in fancy dress, thankfully. You can book a brewery tour and tasting plus there’s other stuff going on like their bi-monthly Cloudwater Camera Club which is the perfect family activity.
