Lennox

Restaurant - Modern British

Lennox comes from the team behind Six by Nico, and has taken over its Spring Gardens location although the Deansgate site is still going strong.

Less gimmicky than its predecessor, Lennox offers popular flavours and recognisable dishes. The focus is on refinement and letting the plate breathe rather than forcing it into an intergalactic-themed feast or a Sherlock Holmes-inspired culinary adventure.

The menu is an eclectic mix of snacks, small plates, big plates, handmade pastas and big chunks of dry-aged meats. It reads like chefs making exactly what they want to make, released from the constraints of novelty.

From quail scotch egg with black pudding to mussels with katsu curry, flavours are gutsy and confident. Confidential Guides loves the agnolotti with wild mushroom and rabbit leg ragu.

Lennox is already building a reputation for its Sunday roast. There’s also a weekly-changing Collections menu with ten sharing plates for the table. The accompanying cocktail flight is a decadent swap for the usual wine pairings. Pure kudos for the Glasgow aperitivo – its Irn Bru is a garish wink to the brand’s Scottish heritage rather than yet another Manchester bee cocktail.
