The Art School
Liverpool’s award-winning, fine-dining restaurant The Art School brings together inventive Modern British cooking and an impressive historic setting.
Diners are seated under the famous vaulted lantern ceiling with views into the kitchen where chef patron Paul Askew is at the helm. Askew is not only a local legend but a respected name on the UK food scene, known for his deceptively simple dishes (and for bagging a 10/10 for his main course on The Great British Menu).
His tasting menu with an optional wine flight is an eight-course event featuring dishes like pan-seared Loch Fyne scallop on a bed of creamed leeks with Southport potted shrimps, and tenderloin of red deer venison with baby vegetables, girolles and a blackberry, port and pink peppercorn jus.
There’s also an excellent value prix-fixe menu and a three-course menu excellence. Choose from a wine selection that wouldn’t be out of place in a top Michelin-star restaurant.
The Art School is fine dining but with a warmth and a welcome that means nothing is remotely stuffy. Think old-fashioned hospitality where each diner is treated like an honoured guest.
Private Dining
The Art School’s private dining room, The Moriarty, is an elegant space with its own dedicated kitchen, bar, cloak and washroom facilities. Comfortably holding between ten and 28 guests, it makes a beautiful setting for a special occasion, meeting or gathering with friends. The Art School also offers exclusive hire of the whole restaurant for bigger events.
