The ‘Burbs
The ‘Burbs is exactly the sort of informal neighbourhood spot you want round the corner from your house. Laid-back enough to take the kids, perfect for a date. And, considering the quality and seasonality of the food, it’s good value too. Another plus if you’re a local because you’ll be here every other week.
Tuck in to tasty morsels from India, Japan, Italy, China, America, Thailand and Mexico. Two or three small plates each works best but it can be hard to have the self-control not to order more.
The 10” pizzas are also very good and the toppings are a mix of favourites and quirkier options like A Taste of Honey with spicy pepperoni, Napoli salami and the aforementioned honey. In fact, The ‘Burbs is from the same team as I Knead Pizza so top class Neapolitan action is par for the course.
Vegans and veggies are in luck. Some serious thought has gone into the plant-based part of the menu; dishes like gunpowder potatoes are irresistible. It’s little things like this that make The ‘Burbs a good all-rounder. The wine and local gins are pretty nifty too.
Don’t miss The ‘Burbs Roast with a choice of beef brisket, stuffed aubergine or herbed chicken, with all the trimmings – two courses for £22 or three courses for £26.
