Wing’s
Lincoln Square’s traditional Cantonese restaurant Wing’s has been an institution in the city centre since 2004, when it first found fame through the patronage of Premier League footballers.
It takes more than famous names to keep a restaurant thriving though – and it’s testament to the consistency and quality of the upmarket British-Cantonese food that Wing’s is still going strong 20 years later.
Refurbished in 2024, the dining room at the new look Wing’s Lincoln Square is tranquil, well-spaced and minimalist. The food not showy decor takes the limelight here. Meanwhile the curving marble bar exudes quiet glamour – it’s a beautiful setting for pre-dinner drinks.
Cooking is delicate, light and finessed. Recommendations include the sea bass; these thick fillets are clearly chosen with care, and as importantly, are handled with care. The timing is immaculate and the infusion of spring onions and ginger lift the fish to something close to a work of art.
The roast duck, shredded tableside and served with plum sauce and pancakes, reminds you why this is a classic. Dim sum is made by hand in-house.
Despite the restaurant’s celeb demographic, the wine list is accessible. Particularly recommended is the spicy Gewurtztraminer from the Alsace.
