London School of Barbering: Manchester

The London School of Barbering: Manchester is the northern outpost of this well-renowned academy for barbers-to-be. As well as their barbering courses, which cater for beginners up to master barbers, they also offer haircuts for a bargain price.

Fades, clipper cuts, scissor cuts and beard trimming are all under £5 – and you get a free beer or soft drink too. If you turn up for a walk-in appointment, there’s a chance you’ll get it for free.

And don’t worry, they won’t leave you looking wonky or patchy (unless that’s what you really want). All the haircuts are done by qualifying barbers, and are double-checked by the master barbers to make sure they hit the mark. There are no bad hair days here.

Only go if you’ve got time to spare though; most appointments take about an hour but allow up to 90 minutes to be sure.

They do all types of hair: Caucasian, Afro-Caribbean, Asian. Women are welcome if they’re having a traditional barber-style cut.
