Hyde Running Community
While much of Greater Manchester makes for flat, fast running, head towards the outer edges and the terrain gets a little more varied.
Hyde Running Community makes the most of its base at the foot of Werneth Low to build your stamina with hill reps and trail runs built into their training schedule when daylight allows it.
The group is led by longtime runner Tony Hillier and it meets every Monday and Wednesday at 6.30pm at Hyde Leisure Centre. The training is structured and focused but the group stresses that it’s a community rather than a club. They want to help you meet your running goals, whatever they may be.
They offer three different levels of run each session, with all the runners setting off together, with some completing a shorter course. It’s free, and is open to anyone over the age of 18 who can run three miles non-stop.
