Hartington and Beresford Dale Circular Walk

Countryside
By Jo Milligan Writer

This circular walk is an easy and scenic stroll that comes in at just under three miles, starting and finishing in the village of Hartington where there is a car park.

Follow Hall Bank out of Hartington and turn right on to Reynards Lane. Continue between stone walls, past a farm and keep going straight ahead.

When you come to a triangular sort of junction where there are three routes, follow the path to the right.

A short while after a curve to the left, take a smaller track between stone walls. This path takes a left and leads down through trees and crosses the River Dove.

Follow the path which runs alongside the River Dove and then pulls away from it. When the path ends, take the right hand option and follow the path until you reach Beresford Lane.

Turn right onto Beresford Lane and then left onto a path which follows the River Dove again. This path through Beresford Dale is my favourite part of the walk.

When you come out of the trees, follow the track through fields back towards Hartington. Watch out for cows.

Cross through a wall on to a farm track and follow it back into the village coming out at Hartington Farm Shop & Cafe.
