National Football Museum
Where else but footy-mad Manchester to house the National Museum of the UK’s favourite sport? Explore the history of the beautiful game inside the unusual-looking Urbis building next to Manchester Victoria train station.
Football memorabilia found here includes FA Cup silverware, Bobby Moore’s boot from the 1966 World Cup finals and even Pele’s passport (we’re sure he ordered a new one).
As expected, you’ll find many a George Best artefact to behold from his days as a Manchester United legend. Learn about the controversial and tumultuous beginnings of the Premier League and delve into the English Football Hall of Fame, celebrating the achievements of the all-time top English footballing talents.
Schools and groups are welcome at the museum, and free tours are included in the price of your pass.
The guide will take you through over a century of football history, from the first international match in 1872 right up to the present day.
Swing by the gift shop on the way out to get your hands on replica trophies, team scarves or some precious signed memorabilia from the likes of Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and United’s Marcus Rashford.
