Salford Watersports Centre
Situated at Dock 8, Salford Quays, Salford Watersports Centre aims to make its activities accessible to everyone who wants to dip their toes in the world of watersports. It offers open water swimming (winter and summer), paddleboarding, sailing, kayaking and powerboating.
They have all the equipment you need, including wetsuits. And there’s changing rooms, warm showers and refreshments on site. (Though you’ll probably be refreshed enough after taking a dip in the docks).
They run intro sessions for people who want to learn the fundamentals of open water swimming and paddleboarding. And there are regular open sessions for when you want to do your own thing, be it kayaking, paddleboarding or swimming. Prices are very reasonable and there’s lots on for kids in the holidays.
It’s popular when the weather heats up but there’s plenty happening here all year round. If you’re training for a triathlon, it should be one of your go-to places. The community here ranges from serious athletes to cold water enthusiasts to those who just enjoy being outdoors on (or in) the water.
