If you feel it’s time to spice up your life, look no further than this Northern Quarter indie, where the main offer is ‘kebabs worth sitting down for’. Yep, BAB NQ by name, ‘babs by nature, but that’s not doing the menu full justice – there are also meze small plates to mix and match, skewers and shawarmas, and non-babs such as an epic surf & turf spread.
And the kebabs themselves are a bit different, with the likes of monkfish tail wiggling its way into a flatbread, not to mention tenderstem broccoli meeting its match with pistachio dukkah. Those flatbreads are made from scratch in front of your very eyes in the open kitchen, where the dishes are crafted and grilled to order using the best locally sourced ingredients and vibrant homemade marinades and sauces, ranging in spiciness.
The selection of sweets might be super-limited, but ice cream in the various guises offered will provide the perfect foil to that building heat created by the likes of chipotle chillies and scotch bonnets, sumac, toum and wasabi. There’s plenty to quench your thirst, too, with draft and bottled beers, suggested wine pairings and a carefully curated cocktail list.
