Evuna Manchester NQ

Restaurant - Spanish

The second city centre Evuna, open since 2013, bagsies a corner spot in the Northern Quarter that provides the outward-facing window seats with a prime people-watching position. Wood panelling, Moorish tiles and rustic blackboards offer atmosphere, perfect for cosying up over those authentic small plates.

There are plenty of tables for groups of varying sizes and tall seats at the bustling bar, where you can enjoy almonds, Andalusian olives and other nibbles while grabbing a glass of Granada-brewed lager Alhambra Especial, on draft, or a choice of sherries from the Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Cream or Pedro Ximenex selection. Evuna is also known for its range of uniquely hand-selected, award-winning, quality wines imported from Spain.

Food wise, classics include the traditional Spanish vegetarian omelette, tortilla de patatas, and gluten-free giant garlic prawns with chilli and oil. Crackers for croquetas? There’s a choice of goats cheese croquetas with aioli, spiced chickpea croquetas with mint yoghurt sauce and Iberian jamón croquetas with parsley aioli. Pork plays big here, from cured meat boards to slow-cooked pork cheeks, as does pescados, with a specialist seafood paella to share.
