On the Hush
The Northern Quarter has never been short of Instagrammable spots with its litany of graffitied walls and shop fronts but cafe bar, On the Hush, has taken it inside, bringing a mix of pretty floral drapery and inner-city spray-painted style to its interior. Owner David opened this casual independent in November 2021 and since then On the Hush has become a firm favourite, winning awards for its bottomless brunch.
The food menu is a mix of brunch classics, sweet treats and popular options like burgers and pasta. Confidential Guides loves the parmo burger for a fresh take on the original. From the comfort eating of cheesy beans on toast to signature buttermilk pancakes slathered in biscoff sauce and vanilla ice cream or sticky Korean wings, On the Hush covers all bases in a chilled-out all-day eating way.
It’s a good value spot serving up local produce and there are excellent deals to be had like the £6 lunch offer and the steak and wine deal for two for £59.
A cute line up of rainbow-coloured lattes, pink hot chocolates and coffee served in pink, green, blue or lilac shades adds some colour to your caffeine. Enjoy with house-baked cakes and brownies on the counter. From May 31, On the Hush will be opening at 10am on the weekend. Beat the queues for your morning coffee fix and start your day here.
Come evening (or anytime, really), On the Hush turns its attention to flamboyant and fun cocktails. Try the Izzy Whizzy with the retro joy of vodka, watermelon and Haribo Tangfastics. Sharing cocktails are available for two or four people and are a Disney lover’s dream – Cinderella is full of pink gin and served in a glass slipper.
