Salt & Pepper
Salt & pepper chicken and chips has fast become one of the most popular takeaway dishes in the UK, thanks to its suitably spicy and moreish coating.
In fact, it’s so loved by the nation that the folks over at Salt & Pepper (behind the Arndale shopping centre) have made it their entire business premise, serving up crispy crunchy chicken, chips, plus prawn and tofu-based dishes that pay homage to the Chinese-English fusion.
During lunch hours there are queues out the door waiting to grab a dish from the ‘Main Ones’ menu. Choose your protein, how it’s cooked (sticky, or salt & pepper), and whether you want rice, chips or both to make up your box.
They also serve small bites and sides, including their famous salt & pepper hash browns that are coated in garlic, chilli, house seasoning, and s&p ‘bits’. Served in portions of four, they’re ideal for snacking on or sharing with mates as a side.
When you buy a box you’ll have the option to add a pot of sauce on the side. We recommend the Szechuan chilli mayo for dunking your chips in – it’s the perfect balance of salty, spicy and sweet.
