Junkyard Golf Manchester
Junkyard Golf is Manchester’s original crazy crazy golf. There are imitators and imposters but this was the city’s first day-glo, booze-fuelled, loud, throbbing take on the traditional seaside game for kids.
Now a professional and permanent operation on First Street, it still has that ramshackle DIY charm that first captivated us – basically every course looks like it has been made from stuff found in a skip.
There are three courses, charmingly named Gary, Pablo and Bozo. There’s plenty of tricky shots and plenty of good shots for Instagram too – get a hole in one with a Robin Reliant and don’t let the UV disco room play havoc with your putt.
There’s a bar – obviously – because this is a night out with laughs built in. Head there for beer, softs, and cocktails with a retro sweets fixation, as well as some slightly lacklustre nachos and pizza twists. This isn’t really the place for food critics to chow down. It’s the place for big nights out: hen dos, stag dos, work dos, birthday dos.
They take large group bookings if there are over eight players, otherwise just book as normal online. Walk-ins are allowed but a game can’t be guaranteed.
- Open: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
