Mackie Mayor
Mackie Mayor is a cosmopolitan food hall located in an 1858 Grade II listed market building on the edge of Manchester’s Northern Quarter. The concept is from the same team behind the award-winning Altrincham Market, offering an eclectic mix of food and drink vendors that are all passionate about regional produce.
The history of Mackie Mayor is rooted in the former Smithfield Market, with the building being one of the only surviving remnants of the market. Muse, the developers, restored and redeveloped the site, transforming it into a hub for Manchester’s food and drink scene.
Mackie Mayor offers something for everyone, from well-brewed coffee at Eagle Street Coffee to craft beers from the Blackjack Brewery at Jack in the Box, wine from Reserve and cocktails from Stray.
The traders are the best of the region. Confidential Guides recommends top tacos at Pico’s, quality burgers and steaks from Tender Cow and the sourdough pizzas from Honest Crust. Other favourites to try include Taiko Ramen, Chilli B, or Mumma’s Fried Chicken, all of which offer exciting vegan and veggie options.
Mackie Mayor is a family-friendly food hall, with a cosy play area hidden under the stairs, perfect for children. The building has a unique historical charm, blending the past with inventive, modern cooking. No bookings are required, walk-ins only.
