The One O’Clock Gun
The One O’Clock Gun is a New York-style pub on the waterfront at Albert Docks. The name refers to a cannon at Morpeth Dock that fired at one o’clock every day for over a century, letting the port’s just-arrived sailors reset their watches, and signalling to locals that it was time for lunch.
The cannon doesn’t fire anymore but the lunchtime rush is still a big thing in this part of the city. Head in here and you can choose from comforting pub food like hearty sandwiches and traditional pies, plus lighter bites and sharing portions of nachos and wings.
Drinks wise, they serve craft beers, ciders, classic cocktails and a good selection of wine. Keep an eye out for monthly quizzes and regular live music nights.
Open: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
