Almost Famous Withington
Almost Famous is a legend in its own lunchtime. Manchester’s original purveyor of OTT stacked dirty burgers and in-your-face attitude has now opened a fifth outpost in Withington.
Expect all the usual loaded fries, loaded tater tots and loaded burgers. The Withington menu is home to all the Almost Famous classics like the Triple Nom and the Phoenix with its renowned Frazzle topping.
However, you’ll also find the Southside – a Withington one-off, not available anywhere else. It turns out the south Manchester hangout of students and hipsters is summed up by cheesy smashed tater tots, bacon bacon mayo and peri bbq sauce on top of the locals-only double cheeseburger. Who knew?
Watch out for the raving buddha on the menu which denotes which burgers can be turned vegan.
As well as burgers, Almost Famous is good for cocktails and beer but it’s not a place to hang around for hours. Your food comes in a plastic basket so leisurely restaurant dining this is not. Fill up, wipe up and move on.
